Castelo de Vide<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Located in the foothills of the S\u00e3o Mamede mountain, Castelo de Vide is protected to the west by the quartzite barrier of the S\u00e3o Paulo ridge. In a transition between plain and mountain, it has given rise to multiple habitats (olive groves, oak groves, pine forests and chestnut groves) that favour the occurrence of a great diversity of birds, with forest, agricultural and rock-dwelling habits. To the north is the P\u00f3voa and Meadas Dam reservoir, where we can find species with aquatic habits. <\/span><\/p>\n

Campo Maior<\/span> (Ouguela and Caia Reservoir)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Located south of the S\u00e3o Mamede mountain, Campo Maior region is characterised by agricultural landscapes dominated by olive groves, pastures and cereal fields. There are also pockets of holm oak forests. The final stretch of the River X\u00e9vora is also worth mentioning. <\/span><\/p>\n

Elvas<\/span> (includes the rivers Caia and Guadiana)<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Elvas is located near the mouth of the River Caia, where it joins the Guadiana, in a landscape that combines agricultural, urban and wetland areas, favouring a diverse birdlife. To the west of Elvas, the area of Vila Fernando is worth a visit. Here, the habitat is conducive to the occurrence of steppe birds, such as the Great Bustard and the Roller (both currently quite rare).<\/span><\/p>\n
